How to play

Amber/Amethyst Pirate tribal + tap-down midrange. Two engines welded by a deep Hundred Acre Wood roster. The Amber half is a Pirate snowball: cheap Pirates discount each other through Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Pirate, and Piglet - Pooh Pirate Captain snaps to 3-lore once two other characters are in play. The Amethyst half is a board-lock package — Eeyore - In the Way lands discounted for a 5/5 2-lore body and freezes the opposing side; Pot of Honey is the cheap one-shot version.

Three lore checkpoints — these are the only turns that matter:

  • Turn 3 — Captain online: Piglet - Pooh Pirate Captain + two other characters = 3-lore quester for 2 ink. Hunny Pirate's quest-discount stacks the next Pirate for free.
  • Turn 5 — Christopher Robin window: Christopher Robin - Adventurer at 6 ink with 2+ other characters gains 2 lore every ready. A 2/6 2-lore body that effectively quests twice per turn.
  • Turn 9 — Eeyore lockdown: Eeyore - In the Way at full cost (or earlier via THANKS FOR NOTICIN' ME) drops a 5/5 2-lore and freezes one opposing character per opponent.

The board-presence rule. Three triggers (Captain, Christopher Robin, Pirate discount chains) all key off "2+ other characters in play." Hand-clog mulligans leave half the deck inactive — pace toward width.

Matchup role: beatdown against anything slower than T5 Pirate flood; pace-controller against go-wide aggro where Owl/Roo shrinks plus Hundred Acre Island turn defensive challenges into lore. Format: Infinity-only (3 of 15 character slots are S2/S3 Pre-Core).

Mulligan

Two-option blind alter.

OTP vs OTD:

Never keep blind: multiple 6-9 cost cards, all-vanilla hands (Piglet - VSA + Gopher + Hunny Wizard with no 1-2 drops), or Eeyore - In the Way in the opening seven. Eeyore is a payoff, not an opener.

Ideal T1-T3 line: Rabbit - Indignant Pirate + Hundred Acre Island T1 → Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Pirate T2 → Piglet - Pooh Pirate Captain T3 (1 ink, courtesy Hunny Pirate's discount trigger). 3-lore quester for 2 ink once the board hits 2 others.

Key cards

Openers (turn 1-2):

  • Rabbit - Indignant Pirate: 1-cost 1/2 1-lore Amber Pirate. BE MORE CAREFUL removes 1 damage from a chosen character on play. T1 quester that doubles as repair on curve.
  • Christopher Robin - Joining the Fun: 2-cost 1/3 2-lore Amethyst Hero. UNDERDOG drops her T1 for 1 ink when going second — best lore/ink rate in the deck.
  • Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Pirate: 2-cost 2/2 1-lore Amber non-inkable Pirate, Support. WE'RE PIRATES, YOU SEE makes the next Pirate cost 1 ink less when this character quests. Quest T2 → drop Roo or Captain for 1 ink the same turn.
  • Roo - Littlest Pirate: 2-cost 1/2 1-lore Amber Pirate. I'M A PIRATE TOO! gives a chosen character -2 STR until your next turn — tempo shrink ETB.
  • Piglet - Pooh Pirate Captain: 2-cost 2/2 1-lore Amber Pirate Captain. AND I'M THE CAPTAIN! gives +2 lore (=3 lore) while you have 2+ other characters in play.

Mid-curve bodies (turn 3-4):

  • Piglet - Very Small Animal: 3-cost 2/4 2-lore Amber vanilla. Survives most 2-3 STR challenges; most reliable T3 quester.
  • Rabbit - Fed Up: 3-cost 1/4 2-lore Amethyst, Challenger +3. Defensive quester that swings to 4 STR — picks off 2-3 STR opposing questers for free.
  • Owl - Pirate Lookout: 3-cost 3/3 1-lore Amber Pirate. WELL SPOTTED gives a chosen opposing character -1 STR every time you put a card into your inkwell. Stacks across the game.
  • Kanga - Nurturing Mother: 3-cost 2/4 1-lore Amber non-inkable. SAFE AND SOUND grants challenge-immunity to another character every time she quests. Protect Captain or Christopher Robin's quest turn.
  • Tigger - Bouncing All the Way: 4-cost 4/3 1-lore Amethyst. SPLENDERIFFIC BOUNCE returns a chosen character, item, or location with cost 2 or less to its owner's hand on play. Tempo answer to T2 enablers.
  • Gopher - Ship's Carpenter: 4-cost 1/6 2-lore Amber Pirate vanilla. Defensive quester walling anything below 6 STR.

Engines and finishers:

  • Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Wizard: 5-cost 5/5 2-lore Amethyst inkable, Sorcerer + Hunny, Enchanted rarity. No ability text — pure stats. Best lore/ink at the 5-slot.
  • Christopher Robin - Adventurer: 6-cost 2/6 2-lore Amber Hero. WE'LL ALWAYS BE TOGETHER gains 2 lore whenever this character readies (with 2+ other characters in play). Quests AND ready-triggers = effective double-lore per turn. 6 willpower walls challenges.
  • Lumpy - Playful Heffalump: 6-cost 6/5 2-lore Amethyst, Evasive. Your only Evasive threat — forces an Evasive answer or a clean lore push.
  • Eeyore - In the Way: 9-cost 5/5 2-lore Amethyst inkable. THANKS FOR NOTICIN' ME costs 1 ink less per exerted character in play. SORRY ABOUT THAT freezes one opposing character per opponent from readying next turn. Drops a body and locks an opposing threat in one card.

Location:

  • Hundred Acre Island - Pooh's Home: 1-cost 5-WP 0-lore Amber location. FRIENDS FOREVER gains 1 lore whenever a character is banished while here, on an opponent's turn. Converts defensive challenges into lore. Always lands T1 if drawn.

Item:

  • Pot of Honey: 1-cost Amethyst item. I'M STUCK! banishes the item; a chosen exerted opposing character can't ready at the start of their next turn. One-shot tap-lock; combos with Owl/Roo stat-shrinks to brick a threat for two turns.

Matchups

vs. Amber/Steel Steelsong (Even): Watch for: He Hurled His Thunderbolt, Be Prepared Their sweeper damage answers your 2-3 STR Pirates cleanly; Kanga's SAFE AND SOUND covers one character per turn from challenges but does nothing against board-wide damage actions. Race plan: get Piglet - Pooh Pirate Captain to 3 lore by T3 and pile on Hundred Acre Island banish-triggers when they challenge through. Save Tigger to bounce a low-cost engine (Reuben SE, Pawpsicle) that fuels their song chain.

vs. Amber/Emerald Aggro (Favorable): Watch for: Tramp - Street-Smart Dog, Grandmother Willow - Ancient Advisor Race-shape that favors us. Your Pirate width meets their flood head-on while Owl - Pirate Lookout flatlines their 2 STR attackers as you fill your inkwell. Hundred Acre Island plus a 6-willpower Gopher - Ship's Carpenter at the location turns every defensive challenge into lore for you. Roo - Littlest Pirate's ETB -2 STR neutralizes Tramp on the turn he lands.

vs. Amethyst/Steel Challengers (Favorable): Watch for: Strength of a Raging Fire, Beast - Snowfield Troublemaker Your wide board outsizes their Challenger ramp. Rabbit - Fed Up's Challenger +3 lets a 1-cost body swing for 4 STR defensively, picking off their 3 STR enablers on the trade. Christopher Robin - Adventurer at 2/6 walls challenges through Strength of a Raging Fire scaling and still gains 2 lore on ready. Hold Pot of Honey for the turn they exert their biggest threat — freeze, then trade.

vs. Amethyst/Sapphire Evasive (Unfavorable): Watch for: Hades - Looking for a Deal, Dumbo - Ninth Wonder of the Universe Their Evasive flies over our 2-3 STR Pirates and you have only Lumpy - Playful Heffalump at 6 ink to answer. Race plan: maximize Pirate-discount chains so Captain hits 3 lore by T3 and Christopher Robin - Adventurer ready-triggers by T7. Hundred Acre Island does nothing here — they don't challenge in. Side note for tech swaps: this is the matchup where 2 extra Lumpy copies would help most.

vs. Ruby/Sapphire Control (Unfavorable): Watch for: Maui - Hero to All, A Pirate's Life Their hard-removal answers Christopher Robin - Adventurer cleanly; their Pirate's Life triggers off OUR Pirates, gaining them lore every time we quest a Pirate. This is a structural problem — half our deck powers their engine. Plan B: shift to Amethyst-side closers (Hunny Wizard, Lumpy, Eeyore) for the bulk of your lore push and keep Pirate questers cheap so the Pirate's Life lore swing is at our pace.

vs. Mirror (Pooh tribal) (Even): Watch for: Christopher Robin - Adventurer, Eeyore - In the Way Identical engine on both sides. Differentiation: whoever resolves Christopher Robin - Adventurer first wins the ready-trigger race. Eeyore - In the Way's SORRY ABOUT THAT freeze targets their Christopher Robin if both are on the board. Pot of Honey is the swing card — at 1 ink it lets you freeze their Captain before yours quests.

Tune It

Against Evasive-heavy meta: -2 Pot of Honey / -1 Gopher - Ship's Carpenter / +3 a fourth Lumpy - Playful Heffalump. Pot of Honey is dead against decks that won't engage your board; Gopher's 6-WP wall does nothing against fliers. Lumpy is the deck's only Evasive body.

Against fast aggro (sub-T5 lethal threats): -1 Eeyore - In the Way / -1 Christopher Robin - Adventurer / +2 a fourth Kanga - Nurturing Mother. The 9-cost and 6-cost top-end arrive after the race is decided; Kanga's SAFE AND SOUND protects your 2-lore quester through the critical T3-T5 turns.

Against control-heavy meta (Maui-engine, Pirate's Life): -2 Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Pirate / -1 Owl - Pirate Lookout / +3 a third Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Wizard. Hunny Wizard has no Pirate subtype, so it doesn't trigger Pirate's Life; fewer Pirates = less ammo for their engine.

Core variant: NOT SHIPPABLE. Three Pre-Core slots (S2 Christopher Robin - Adventurer, S2 Piglet - Very Small Animal, S3 Piglet - Pooh Pirate Captain) hold the deck's only double-lore ready trigger AND the +2-lore Captain. No current Core-legal substitutes. Ships Infinity-only.

Outlook: Infinity-only SKU. Hunny Wizard at Enchanted rarity drives per-deck cost; restock cap is gated by Christopher Robin - Adventurer (S2 Rare) and Piglet - Pooh Pirate Captain (S3 Super Rare) single availability.
