June 2026 reveals: the discard package
The opening reveals all point at one idea: discarding a card can be an advantage, not a cost. Together they make a tidy little Emerald/Steel engine. (Magic players: it’s a lot like Madness, or the newer Mayhem, except the cards aren’t exiled, so they keep coming back.) Full breakdown in our Emerald/Steel Discard Engine deep-dive.
Mother Gothel — Evil as Ever · Emerald · 2 ink · 3/3 · Villain

Mummy’s Back: During your turn, when you discard this card, you may play her from your discard. (You pay all costs.) Why it matters: discarding Gothel isn’t a loss, it’s a setup. Any “discard a card” effect turns her into a 3/3 body you simply replay.
Rapunzel — Escaping the Tower · Emerald · 1 ink · 2/1 · Hero · Princess

The Call of Adventure: Once during your turn, you may discard a card to give her +1 ⚔ and Evasive until the start of your next turn. Why it matters: a 1-drop that turns “discard a card” into an unblockable attacker, and it’s the engine that feeds Gothel and Look What You’ve Done.
Look What You’ve Done · Steel · 2 ink · Action

Deal 2 damage to chosen character. During your turn, when you discard this card, you may play it from your discard. (You pay all costs.) Why it matters: removal that survives the bin. Pitch it to a discard outlet and you still get the 2 damage.
Rapunzel & Flynn Rider — Unlikely Pair · Emerald/Steel · 5 ink (or Shift 3) · 4/4 · Team

Clever Swap: Whenever this character quests, you may draw a card, then choose and discard a card. Fresh Start: During your turn, whenever you discard a character card, you may play that character from your discard. (You pay all costs.) Why it matters: this is the payoff that ties the whole package together: a built-in discard outlet (Clever Swap) and a rule that lets any discarded character come right back (Fresh Start). It even Shifts onto the 1-cost Rapunzel above for 3 ink.
You Broke My Smolder · Steel · 1 ink · Action

Discard your hand. Draw 2 cards. Why it matters: the cheap fuel the engine wanted. With Fresh Start out, you dump a hand full of characters, replay them all from the discard, and draw two fresh cards. On its own it’s a desperate refuel; alongside the anchor it’s an explosive turn.
What we’re watching: Emerald plus Steel now has a genuine discard engine, not just a combo: multiple discard outlets (including a 1-cost “discard your hand, draw 2”), payoff bodies, removal, and a universal “discard a character, replay it” anchor. It’s the most exciting brew of early spoiler season. Discard still isn’t a real archetype in the current meta, so we’ll see if more support pushes it over the top, and we’ll add every new piece here as it drops.
